Phoenix area nonprofit gives new pair of shoes to those living on the streets
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The holidays are about spreading joy, which some volunteers are doing thanks to a Valley nonprofit, and that’s Something Good.
Cloud Covered Streets brings hope to those going through tough times and living on the streets.
Every holiday season, the nonprofit holds Operation Santa, where volunteers give the homeless brand-new shoes.
They were recently at New City Church in Phoenix, where they gave away around 300 pairs of shoes—it was their biggest year yet!
“For the most part, their shoes are dilapidated, worn down. That sensation too of opening a present is just fun to see them walking around, testing out their new shoes,” said Robert Thorton with Cloud Covered Streets. “There’s nothing like bringing Christmas to people who are unfortunately treated badly most of the time.”
This week, volunteers will be at the Washington Street shelter to hand out shoes, and then on Wednesday, they will be outside of La Canasta Mexican restaurant in downtown Phoenix next to the capitol.
Thank you to all the volunteers with Cloud Covered Streets for doing Something Good!
